Welcome to Balðrsfolk
We know many of you had been asking us for a dedicated Norse pagan community - a place where people could learn, ask questions, share experiences, and connect with others walking a similar path. After countless requests from readers of Wyrd & Flame, we decided it was finally time to create one.
So, we did.
Balðrsfolk is the official Wyrd & Flame community - a welcoming space for anyone interested in Norse paganism, Germanic traditions, mythology, history, and the old ways. Whether you're taking your very first steps onto the path or you've been practising for many years, you'll find a community built on respect, learning, and a genuine passion for preserving and understanding our shared heritage.
Unlike many online groups that focus solely on memes, arguments or misinformation, Balðrsfolk was created with education at its heart. Our aim is to provide a place where historical evidence, meaningful discussion, and practice can exist side by side. We encourage curiosity, honest questions, and thoughtful conversation, while recognising that no one person has all the answers.
Meet the Founders!
Every community begins with a vision.
Balðrsfolk was founded by four individuals who shared a common goal: to create an open, welcoming, and educational Norse pagan community where people from all backgrounds could come together to learn, grow, and support one another.
Rather than building another isolated group, they envisioned a modern gathering place - one founded upon frith, knowledge, fellowship, and mutual respect. A place where history and spirituality could be explored together, where newcomers would be welcomed rather than judged, and where experienced practitioners could freely share their wisdom with others.
Each founder brings their own unique knowledge, experience, and perspective to the community, working together to guide Balðrsfolk while remaining committed to the belief that leadership is measured through service rather than status.
Together, they continue to oversee the growth of Balðrsfolk, helping shape its future while ensuring it remains true to the values upon which it was founded.
Konúngr - Jobi Scott Lee
As Konúngr, Jobi helps lead the overall direction of Balðrsfolk, ensuring the community remains welcoming, organised, and focused on its mission of education, unity, and fellowship. With a passion for Norse spirituality and community building, he works to strengthen connections between members and allied communities alike.
Dróttníng - Ellesha Petal Rose McKay
As Dróttníng and co-founder of Wyrd & Flame, Ellesha oversees much of Balðrsfolk's educational vision, historical research, and community development. As a Vǫlva, she also plays a key role in the community's spiritual guidance, helping members explore Norse history, mythology, Seiðr, Spá, and the wider traditions of the ancient North.
Kvædor - Cody Matthew Fenriswolf
As Kvædor, Cody is dedicated to supporting members through education, discussion, and spiritual learning. His focus lies in helping others deepen their understanding of Norse beliefs and practice while encouraging thoughtful conversation and personal growth within the community.
Lagmannr - John O'Toole
As Lagmannr, John brings wisdom, balance, and guidance to the leadership team. He supports both the administration and wider community by encouraging respectful discussion, sharing his knowledge of Norse traditions, and helping uphold the values of frith and mutual respect that Balðrsfolk is built upon.
Together, these four founders continue to guide Balðrsfolk with one shared purpose: to build a community where no one has to walk the old ways alone.
